The 2020 Federal University Gippsland Business Awards have been cancelled with planning now focused on a
return in 2021.
Awards Committee Chair, Sheridan Bond, said while it was a difficult decision, the focus was on supporting
the region’s businesses at this time of unprecedented challenges.
“While we continue to be amazed and proud of the resilience of Gippsland businesses and their ability to
adapt to the current uncertain business environment, they need to take this time to focus on the
sustainability of their businesses, their staff and their customers,” Ms Bond said.
“The fact there are currently no active cases of COVID-19 throughout Gippsland is a clear demonstration that
Gippsland residents have heeded the warnings and adapted their lives to accommodate the various
restrictions and advice.
“Although we are not out of the woods yet and we must remain vigilant, I encourage everyone, whether
within or outside of the region, to support Gippsland businesses, and each other, through to the other side of
this extraordinary time.”
Ms Bond said the Gippsland Business Awards Committee would continue to meet regularly to conduct a
critical review of the awards and plan for the future.
“We will look at all aspects of the program and make changes to create an even better Gippsland Business
Awards, in preparation of a return to the calendar in 2021,” Ms Bond said.
